Street Outreach

Street Outreach has a mobile outreach van that searches Lexington parks and teen hangouts to help youth on the street. Hygiene products, food and referral information is provided to at-risk youth or those engaging in high-risk behavior.
A Drop-in Center offers a safe place for homeless and runaway teens to find information and resources, do laundry, have a meal, and offers access to telephones to call their parents. Counseling is provided to help youth decide on healthy lifestyle choices, seek alternatives to living on the streets, and other resources.

Food, shelter, clothing counseling and rental assistance is provided to youth, 18-21 years of age, who are living on the streets (homeless) or have unsafe/ unstable living situations.
Youth are offered services to include: apartment and grocery assistance on a siding scale. Youth must be able to acquire and maintain employment. Youth may attend school and work part-time. Youth must be able to commit to participation in counseling and community service projects.

Project Safe Place

An affiliation with National Safe Place for over 18 years has given any child/ youth in crisis access to immediate assistance. Over 157 agencies, businesses, and Fire Stations display the Safe Place signs in Lexington and Woodford County. Youth need only to enter a building and ask for “a safe place” to receive help for any crisis situation.
School presentations are conducted throughout local private/public schools to ensure all children/ youth have the information about child abuse and “where to go in a crisis.”. Information is provided at health and resource fairs for children, youth, and their families in the community to ensure awareness of the programs offered by Safe Place and M.A.S.H. Services of the Bluegrass.


Teens 4 Teens

Through our Peer Education Program, youth are trained help other youth. They develop leadership and public speaking skills to become engaged in the community. Youth/Adult partnerships are created with the service of the Teen Hotline, a youth lead information and referral line for teens. Youth are required to apply for the program, obtain a specific number of hours per month, and participate in community service.
